Engagement Photography Surrey

Did you get engaged over the holidays? If so Congratulations!

Are you thinking about having an engagement shoot but not too sure what it involves?

Here’s all the information you need to help get you prepared for your very own pre-wedding shoot.

I have designed a photography package that can be used to celebrate your engagement, as a way to mark an anniversary, birthday or valentines day, or simply just to celebrate your love for one another!

The engagement shoot can also be added on to your wedding photography package and is an excellent way to get to know me a little more before your wedding and get comfortable posing and being in front of the camera.

WHY HAVE AN ENGAGEMENT SHOOT

You certainly don’t need to have an engagement shoot but you might be wondering if it would be worthwhile.

An engagement shoot is a great way for you to spend a bit more time getting to know your photographer and feel comfortable being photographed together. For many people the engagement shoot is simply a way to feel relaxed and comfortable about their wedding photography, giving them one less thing to worry about.

An engagement shoot can also be a wonderful opportunity to document your personal story, it can be a beautiful record of how you were when you were engaged and it starts a story which will be continued on throughout your wedding photographs.

Your engagement shoot can either be in a stylised and story-telling style or simply some relaxed photos of the two of you in a place you feel comfortable. It’s completely up to you!

PRICE

£250 (or £200 when added to a wedding package)

• An hour and a half photoshoot at a location of your choice

• Around 25-30 uniquely beautifully edited images from the shoot will be supplied to you via your personal online gallery. You’re free to print, keep and share the images as much as you like.

THE LOCATION

Where the photoshoot takes place can be entirely up to you, or I can always suggest some locations if you are stuck for an idea. You might wish to choose a place which is important to you both or reflects a love of something that you do together. The main priority is that you feel comfortable!

Some other things to think about when choosing your location…

• You should be able to freely express affection and emotion.

• You should feel free to to have FUN.

• You should feel beautiful.

From parks to train stations, to cafes or even the comfort of your own home- you’re free to choose somewhere that means something to you both. There is no such thing as an ‘ugly’ location….there is beauty everywhere….we just have to find it!
Some of the shots you see here were taken around London’s Southbank, with industrial bins and urban walls as a backdrop, so please know that the location doesn’t necessarily have to be pretty at every corner 🙂

TOP TIPS

1. MAKE IT PERSONAL

It’s always fun to bring along props. We can use the engagement session like a mainstream shoot – complete with props and scenery. Feel free to bring things along that really reflect your fantastic personalities.

For instance, I’ve had a couple bring along matching iPods, because they’re both really into music. Another idea is to shoot at a coffee shop if you both share a love of coffee. The list is endless! Suggestions include (but are not limited to) bikes, polaroid camera, your pet dog, your hiking gear, magazines you like reading. Anything! 🙂 Don’t hesitate to bring anything that truly reflects you individually or as a couple. If props aren’t your thing, don’t worry your photos will still look just as great!

2. WHAT NOT TO WEAR

Outfit changes can give you some extra diversity in a shoot and this doesn’t mean you have to change your entire outfit. Just a change of jumper or jacket can give you both a very different look if you would like some variety in your photos.

There is no right or wrong thing to wear for a photoshoot. Please where what you feel comfortable in and something which makes you feel beautiful (or handsome) and confident. If you feel your best you’ll look your best in each and every photograph.

3. HAIR AND MAKE-UP

Some brides-to-be will have their practice run regarding hair and makeup right before the engagement shoot. This helps them feel a little more ‘done-up’ for the shoot and boosts their confidence. This is definitely not a necessity but it is a nice way to do something useful with your pre-wedding make over, it certainly beats sitting home in your PJs with the most gorgeous hair and make-up. In my experience shooting engagement sessions, girls want to feel pretty and confident…and sometimes spending a little extra time getting ready achieves just that.

5. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

Don’t hesitate to check out photo shoot locations beforehand. I encourage you to find a spot that reflects your love and a place you’ll both feel comfortable. And please note that there is no such thing as an ‘ugly’ location….there is beauty everywhere….we just have to find it! I’ve shot pretty much in every location imaginable (dumpsters, septic tanks, graffiti walls, etc), so please know that the location doesn’t necessarily have to be pretty at every corner 🙂

4. ALLOW YOURSELF TIME

Please be on time 🙂 Portrait photographs look best when shot during the best natural-light and I’ve planned the session to make the most of the most beautiful light available. An average shoot lasts 1-1.5 hours…if you show up 30 minutes late, the session can not be extended, but, rather, ends at the regularly scheduled time. I want you to have the BEST photography experience and being on time achieves this, as there’s nothing worse than being flustered and late right before you need to be relaxed in front of the camera 🙂

ADELE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY SURREY

ADELE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY SURREY??? Yes, I’ve moved!
Adele Wedding Photography is now based in Surrey.

2016 has been a year full of new beginnings. In April I was blessed with the birth of a beautiful healthy baby girl and since then we’ve been settling in to our new home town in Epsom, Surrey.

adele wedding photography surrey

I am loving living in a leafy market town. The area is beautiful with lots of amazing wedding venues on my doorstep. I’m still finding my feet here in Surrey but I am hoping to finding a wedding fair or two to attend so that I can meet some lovely local Brides to Be. If any of you can recommend a wedding fair that you’ve attended in the area I’d love to hear your recommendations. Please leave detail in the comments below, I’d be sure grateful to hear of where is good (and if any were not so great).

So if you’re looking for a wedding photographer in Surrey pop over to my website and take a look at my Portfolio. If you’ve yet to book your wedding photographer, I’d love to hear from you if you’re getting married in Surrey.

2016 Roundup

On another year end note I’ll shortly be posting a round up for 2016. It’s been a busy year. I’m hoping that 2017 will bring even more amazing weddings for me to be a part of. 2016 took me all over the country photographing beautiful brides in fabulous locations. From a picturesque blue sky Castle wedding in Gloucester to  a winter wedding in The Caves in Edinburgh. Going forward I am hoping to fill my diary with surrey based wedding photography clients. So please do get in touch in your wedding venue is local, I really would love to hear from you.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year!

A SNEAK PEAK: TRACY-ANN & MARC

I had the absolute pleasure of being there to photograph Tracy-Ann & Marc’s beautiful wedding day and it was absolutely gorgeous. So much love, happiness, friends and family. A truly heart warming day.

There are a lot of photographs from the day to edit, which will take a little time, but I wanted to share a few of my favourites for you to enjoy while you wait for the rest.

Once the online gallery is ready Tracy-Ann & Marc will send out the link and password so you can have a look. Until then, enjoy this little slideshow.

A Sneak Peak: Lara & Pete Berkeley Castle Wedding Photography

What a beautiful day it was. The fairytale location was upstaged only by the stunning bride and the whole day was a total dream.

There are so so many gorgeous photographs to edit, I wanted to share a short slideshow of some of my favourites so far whilst I finish off the last of the images that will be added to the gallery very soon.

A massive congratulations to Lara & Pete and a big thank-you for having me there to photograph a truly amazing day.

LYNNE & STEVE – NORTHCOTE, LANGHO LANCASHIRE

It’s not every day that you get to photograph your mums wedding!

My mum got married a couple of weekends ago at The Northcote in Langhoe, Lancashire and it was such a lovely day.

Northcote Wedding Lancashire

As well as being the photographer for the day, I had the task of helping her into her dress which seemed to have a never ending number of buttons, each as difficult as the next to fasten.

Lynne-Steve-38

My handsome little nephew was to be a little pageboy for the occasion and had the most gorgeous little outfit to wear.

lynne-steve-2

It was lovely to get a chance to be so close to my mum on the day. Most guests have to wait eagerly seated in the service before getting a peak at the bride but as her photographer I was right there behind the scenes capturing all those lovely moments.

 Lynne-Steve-60

It was Uncle who gave my mum away as my grandfather had sadly passed many years ago. Below are a couple of photos just before she entered the ceremony room.
Full of excitement and anticipation for the moments which lay ahead.

Lynne-Steve-42

Lynne-Steve-53b

After the service it was time for a few family snaps…

and some shots of the interior as a keep sake.

lynne-steve-110b

Finally I took a few photos of the happy couple before putting my camera away to enjoy the rest of the celebrations as part of the family.

All in all a truly lovely day with lots of happy memories.

LARA & PETE ENGAGEMENT SHOOT

What a gorgeous couple!

Lara & Pete are getting married next August and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding, it is going to be every bit as gorgeous as the couple themselves.

lara-pete-engagement-23

lara-pete-engagement-31

I had a great day hanging out with Lara & Pete, they are such a lovely down to earth couple who were up for anything from lying down on the grass to trying out some lifts. It was such a fun afternoon, and it’s such a joy to photograph these lovely fun moments between two people so obviously in love.

lara-pete-engagement-51

As every photographer knows there is no substitute for gorgeous natural sunlight.
As the shoot progressed the sun became more and more beautiful.
We were so lucky to get such a lovely day as the weather had been particularly grim all week.

lara-pete-engagement-96

I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect engagement session.

lara-pete-engagement-79 lara-pete-engagement-24And I’m really looking forward to seeing them both again on their gorgeous Wedding Day.

Best of luck to you both with the rest of your wedding planning.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Every bride has some questions about her wedding day photography

Here’s a run down of the most frequently asked questions

WHAT CAMERA DO YOU SHOOT WITH

I shoot with a professional full frame Canon 5D body and the professional L series lenses.

You can read more about my kit here

WHEN WILL OUR PHOTOS BE READY

I aim to fully edit all your photo’s within 2-3 weeks from the date of your wedding.

CAN WE ORDER PRINTS

Yes you can order prints directly from your own online gallery. Your friends and family can also order prints directly from the gallery too!
I use a professional printing lab so you can be sure to receive the highest quality prints. Not only can you order standard prints there are also options to order prints on canvas, acrylic block or bamboo frames. You can take a look at what is available here

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU”RE ILL AND CAN’T MAKE THE WEDDING

This is something many brides worry about and thankfully I’ve yet to be ill when I’m schedulled to photograph a wedding. However I have stepped in to help out other wedding photographers and this has resulted in me having a large network of fellow photographers whos work I admire that I can call upon should I need someone to step in. Should this photographer charge more than I do I would cover the extra cost and if they charge less then you would be refunded the difference.

The process that normally happens in these situations is the photographer reaches out and collates a shortlist of available replacements and then should you wish to choose your replacement you can, alternatively I can pick the best available option for you if you prefer.

Please know that I will always do everything I can to make it to my wedding bookings. If you are not getting married locally to me I will aim to arrive the day before to ensure there is no issues with traffic etc on the day.

HOW DO WE ORDER ALBUMS

Once your wedding photos are ready you will receive a link to your own unique gallery. Take time to look over your images and return back after a couple of days to get a real feel for which images are your favourite. If you decide to order an album you will first need to decide which album you prefer as they come in a genuine leather or a coffee table book style.

Once you’ve decided which album you like drop me an email with your album choice and we’ll discuss which images to include. It is nice when designing an album to tell a story of your day which usually mean starting at the beginning and working through the day in the order which it happened. I will guide you in terms of how many images to include from each section of your day and you can guide me in terms of which images you’d like blown up to cover a whole double page and which you’re happy to form a smaller part of your album.

WHAT DETAILS DO YOU NEED FROM US

I will send you an email 6 weeks before your wedding requesting the following details:
1. Please supply the full address including postcode of where you’ll be getting ready (if I’m photographing you getting ready)
2. Please supply the full address including postcode of where you’re getting married

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY – FORTY HALL

The very lovely Natasha & Yuvnesh got married last weekend in the most gorgeous of venues.

The day started with all the girls getting ready, and the beautiful bride looked stunning as her sister completed her hair and make-up.

natasha-yuvnesh-getting-ready-make-up

natasha-yuvnesh-getting-ready-24

The guests were all waiting at their local church, Hornsey Moravian Church. It was there that I found Yuvnesh in his full uniform alongside his best men. It was lovely to see the groom in full service uniform and I’ve never seen such well polished shoes!

natasha-yuvnesh-service-68

Natasha arrived just a little later than expected but I think Yuvnesh would agree that she was well worth the wait.

natasha-yuvnesh-service-305

The service was beautiful and intimate and incredibly personal. It was really lovely to see these two lovely people vow to love and care for each other for the rest of their lives.

After the service the wedding party headed to the gorgeous Forty Hall for the reception.

The first dance was absolutely fantastic, it spanned a couple of songs starting with “In the Navy” by the Village People which was a really fun start to the evenings entertainment.

It was a really wonderful day, and Natasha and Yuvnesh are such a lovely couple, I wish them all the happiness in the world and feel very glad to have been able to be there to capture there very special day.

So come along and say hi! I’d love to meet you and it’s sure to be an amazing weekend full of wedding related fun.

CREATING YOUR OWN PHOTOBOOTH

So for my own wedding I wanted to create a fun photobooth area for all my guests. I didn’t think it was necessary to spend a few hundred pounds getting a large photobooth shipped into my venue so I opted to do it myself, and here’s how I did it.

The Props…

I mainly used ebay to shop for my props and there are some amazing bargains on there! Below I’ve listed all the different elements along with links to the props as well as the individual prices.

Photobooth props
1. Tartan Hat £3.18 incl P+P

2. Giant pink clown glasses £2.99 incl P+P

3. Pineapple Sunglasses £2.59 incl P+P

4. Clown Afro Wig £2.48 incl P+P

5. Black Geek Glasses £2.79 incl p+p

6. Cool Glasses £3.98 incl P+P

7. Inflatable Parrot £2.48 incl P+P

8. Hawaiian Garlands £0.99 each incl P+P

9. Red Sunglasses £1.99 incl P+P

10. RAVE glasses £1.99 incl P+P

11. Card props on sticks £3.99 incl P+P

12. Pink Glitter Hat £4.25 incl p+p

13. Black Top Hat £3.85 incl P+P

14. Red Glitter Cowboy Hat £4.98 incl P+P

15. Gangster Hat £5.98 incl P+P

Hat props
So in total the props cost me £51.45 including postage and packaging
The suitcase box I bought from TK Maxx which fitted with our vintage travel theme. It was a bargain at £7.99!

Displaying the props

I found a cheap and cheerful way to display the cardboard props on sticks.

Photobooth prop jars
By making some cool labels to spice up some old jam jars I could present my cardboard cut out props easily

Photobooth prop jars and labelsI also made some of my own props on sticks. First of all I made the “I’m his MRS” and “I’m her MR” cards and then I made “Thank” “You” cards which are a great fun thing to photograph for Thank-you cards after the wedding.

DIY Photobooth signs

The Set up…

I’ll post some pictures of the actual photobooth after the wedding. I’ve trialled the set up at home and it works really well.

First I’ll set up my tripod and camera in the corner (I’d recommend placing it up against a wall so people aren’t walking around the back of it and tripping up over the tripod legs). I then use the cable which came with my camera to tether it to my laptop. I decided that I wanted to show guests a snapshot of their photo after it has been taken to add to the fun of the photobooth. Using Adobe Lightroom on the laptop will allow guests to browse the photos and see how great they look!

Another thing I decided to add to my photobooth was a personalised polaroid frame which I made. This will help guests know where to stand, framing them nicely in the shot. The frame is simply a piece of A0 2mm thick card with a square hole cut out. I got mine printed with our name and date on but you could simply hand letter this on the front of white card if you wanted.

Photobooth frame

In my wedding venue the photobooth will be set up in the conservatory and there’s wooden slats supporting the roof where we can hang the lightweight frame from.

The final thing I need to add is the remote control for my camera. This will be attached to the back of the frame (so no one walks off with it) and guests will be able to easily click the button to snap their shot!.

Is this for you?

I’ll admit that having your own tripod, camera and laptop set up is the biggest hurdle to setting up your own photobooth. Your camera does not have to be a super expensive one, a compact camera on a table top tripod would work just as well! I’d experiment working with what you’ve got before taking the plunge and buying all the props.

Another option is to have the props with a compact camera set down amongst them and people can take each others photos, it would be just as fun! You could then share all the photos online after the event and using a photo sharing service such as Flickr would allow guests to get their photos printed themselves after the event or download them to keep for themselves and share on social media.

There are loads of options and so many props to choose from, the fun can be endless! And at around £50 for everything you need it’s so much cheaper than hiring an expensive booth that you only get to keep for a few hours.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY| YORK

I really enjoyed photographing the wedding of Hasha & Tim in York. There was an abundance of personality to capture and Hasha looked breathtaking.

adeleweddingphotography-york

It was great to be around to watch her getting ready. As she was getting ready so close to the ceremony location I could stay long enough to see her in her dress before I needed to head off to the church to grab photographs of guests arriving & Tim waiting eagerly for Hasha to arrive.

adeleweddingphotography-york-wedding

Hasha looked gorgeous as she arrived at the church with her dad and bridesmaids.

adeleweddingphotography-yorkwedding2

Hasha’s veil added a beautiful softness and I think she looks very angelic in these photos.

Following the service we headed off to get some photographs of Tim & Hasha alone together. This is one of my favourites…

After the wedding breakfast there was a great party atmosphere! With a brilliant ceilidh band, all the guests were up on the dance floor enjoying themselves and it was a fun atmosphere to capture!

What can I say, it truly was a great wedding which I thoroughly enjoyed photographing! Wishing Hasha and Tim a long and happy marriage together.

LANCASHIRE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY | SAM & TIM

I thought I’d take a trip down memory lane and look at some of my past weddings. This particular wedding in Lancashire sticks in my mind as it was the first on I ever shot back in 2003!

Below are some of my favourite pictures from the day….

adeleweddingphotography-lancashire

Sam had a beautiful dress, I loved all the beaded detail, it looked really great in all the photographs.

This picture of Sam and Tim during the speeches is one of my all time favourites.

I love the silhouette of them against the window.

And these images of the boys having a tipple and cigar still make me smile!

A SNEAK PREVIEW OF LAURA & STUART’S WEDDING AT ABERDOUR CASTLE SCOTLAND

This August I photographed a beautiful wedding at Aberdour Castle, Scotland. I can’t release the images yet because the Bride & Groom are waiting for close family to return from holiday before sharing their wedding photo’s. They have shared one of the images already on Facebook so I can share that with you for now….

adeleweddingphotography-scottish-wedding-photography

I can’t wait to share more! It was a beautiful wedding. The “on and off” rain was kind enough to be off the moments we needed it! There was a moment during the service when the heavens opened and I was dreading us having to head outside but no sooner had the Bride and Groom left the building the sunshine appeared again.

The reception was held at The Garvock House Hotel in Dunfermline and the weather held off just long enough for everyone to get inside and be seated for the speeches. All in all it was a beautiful day with a beautiful bride and I truly can’t wait to share the photos.

SCOTTISH CASTLE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY LAURA & STUART

A few weekends ago I photographed a beautiful wedding in Fife, Scotland. It’s not often you get asked to photograph a wedding in a castle so I was very excited.

adeleweddingphotography-gallery-lrg

I had been to the location several weeks before for a pre-wedding engagement shoot and I’d seen how gorgeous it was. There was also a lovely reception venue and a beach near by so there were plenty of options for beautiful photographs.
The day started early, and I made a start on capturing some of the details. I love to capture some of the small details before the day starts, they’re still new and waiting to be worn. They’ve been chosen so carefully to accent the bride & her gown but they often get overlooked on the day. Laura had asked for all her accessories to be recorded and below are just a few…

adelefirth_details

After taking plenty of pictures of the bride and the rest of the girls getting ready I headed off to Aberdour Castle to take some photographs of the guests arriving and the groomsmen. The clouds were starting to come over and we were sure a storm was on the way. We were all praying it would hold off until Laura had arrived and got inside. Whilst we waited we had a little fun on the lawn with the Groom and his Groomsmen.

adeleweddingphotography-groomsmen

Thankfully the rain held out and Laura arrived in style looking stunning in her lace detail wedding dress. No sooner was she inside the heavens opened and we were thankful to be dry and hopeful it would pass before we had to leave.

adeleweddingphotography-service

The service was beautifully intimate with 60 guests and I loved to see Laura beaming from ear to ear, she truly looked so happy to be saying I do!

adelefirth_service adelefirth_service2

The rain was just about stopping as they signed the register and I was hoping we could get enough of a dry spell to catch some photographs outside.

adeleweddingphotography-service2

The rain may have taken a pause but the skies were still heavy and the grass wet but that did not stop these two grinning from ear to ear! There’s a saying I learnt from an old colleague, apparently when it is raining whilst also sun-shining it’s referred to as a Monkey’s Wedding! Laura & Stuart must have been sharing their wedding day with some monkeys somewhere because that’s how the rest of the day panned out.

adeleweddingphotography-groups

adelefirth_couple5

We were lucky enough to get the majority of the Group photo’s done before the rain started again, we then headed off to the beach for some extra shots by the sea!

adelefirth_couple1

Down by the beach you wouldn’t have thought a rain storm had just passed, the skies were blue again and thankfully the beach was a little empty. Laura kicked off her shoes and headed down to the water front.

adelefirth_couple2

It was nice to get some quiet time away from the rest of the wedding. I always think this is a beautiful time of day for the couple, they can relax and enjoy a few moments of being MR & MRS before heading back to the party which awaits them.

adelefirth_couple3

Back at The Garvock House Hotel the guests were waiting patiently to greet the newlyweds. The speeches went down a storm and the rest of the night when with a bang.

adelefirth_speeches3

All in all it was a truly beautiful day and I loved all the little details that Laura had put in place. The weather was good to us in a round about way, the sun did come out when we needed it and I was so grateful for it. We were so relieved that we managed to get all the photographs that Laura and Stuart had wanted.

ENGAGEMENT PHOTO SHOOT ABERDOUR CASTLE

I had such a great time this weekend. I was bonny in Fife, Scotland at Aberdour castle taking photographs of Laura and Stuart ahead of their wedding in August. The location was stunning and it was great to get a look around the castle to spot the good locations for the shots on the wedding day.

The engagement shoot is a great way for everyone to get to know each other and for the engaged couple to feel at ease in front of the camera. Laura said that she felt so much more relaxed about the day once we had done a test run of the day at the castle. I think it’s important for the bride and groom to be relaxed on their wedding day so that they can enjoy the whole day without worrying about the photographs.

The best photographs happen when the couple are relaxed and at ease and that’s what I aim to achieve by having the engagement shoot built in to my wedding package.

adeleweddingphotography_engagement_photography

“I’M SO GLAD THAT YOU CAME UP AHEAD OF THE WEDDING, WE FEEL SO MUCH MORE AT EASE AND RELAXED ABOUT HAVING THE PHOTOGRAPHS DONE IN AUGUST”.

adeleweddingphotography_engagementshoot

The engagement shoot can be whatever you want it to be, we can discuss the wedding day and work through all the timings etc and then we can shoot on location at the wedding venue or we can head of to a place that is special to the two of you or simply head down to your local town or park where you can feel comfortable and at home in your own environment. The idea is for you to get piece of mind about your wedding photographs and try out being in front of the camera together and for me to get a thorough idea of what your wedding day will be like and how you want it capturing in images.

If you’re interested in having a engagement shoot please get in touch with me at info@adeleweddingphotography.co.ukor call on 07557 533 120
